Canadian Expat Mom

About Me

headpicI’m a Canadian that got swept up into the expat world in 2010 when my husband and I decided to give living in France a shot.  After a year in Paris and a ‘baguette’  in the oven, we knew our lives were about to get turned upside down.  Opportunity presented itself and we moved south; to a quieter, slower pace of French life.  It didn’t take long for our ‘baguette’  to become a sibling to a little ‘croissant’  et voila; it’s bliss, it’s madness, it’s beautiful chaos!

Trying to assimilate into a foreign country is no easy task!  Over the past four years of our adventure, some bizarre things have gone on in our lives.  It’s time to share the laughter.  I try my best to make light of uncomfortable situations and use humour to diffuse the awkward moments I often find myself in, but this is much easier said than done when you’re operating in another language.  Join me for a laugh as I share the craziness that is my life as an Expat Mom.

Time for an update!!!

Since I first wrote this “About Me” section, we’ve put a lot of miles on! We’ve left France, spent a year living in Borneo, Indonesia and now we live in Pointe-Noire, Congo…that’s right, we’re living in West Africa.

I have written a children’s book series, ‘The Kids who Travel the World’, where each book explores a new city or country. The books are available on Amazon and I’d love it if you would check them out. If you like them, leave a review to let others know! 🙂

I’ve also edited the anthology, ‘Once Upon an Expat’, which is also an Amazon Bestseller that takes you on an adventure around the world through the experiences of women who have been brave enough to uproot their lives and plant roots in different countries.

Lastly, my book is DONE! And it’s amazing….if I do say so myself! Now onto the next step. Anyone know a publisher?

As always, thanks for reading and continuing to support my work.

Lisa 🙂

I love your page. I just recently moved to San Francisco from Toronto with my husband so I just joined the expat club! 🙂 Your page is really helping me “settle in” to the new stage in life I am in 🙂
